Choose a destination depending on what you find important during your Break. What do you prioritise? Quality of golf course, more than one golf course in the package, quality of accommodation, distance from accommodation to golf course, distance from accommodation to bars & restaurants. Study our different packages and take a decision. If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Before your reserve your break with us you should search flights that gives you best travel conditions considering price, hour of the day, departure & arrival airport. Take special note to the conditions for your luggage including your golf bag. During a Long Stay break you will normally require more luggage than during a normal one-week holiday, this you should consider when reserving your flights
If you would be unfortunate and loose any of your luggage during the flight then it is very important that your report this at the airport on arrival and fill in a PIR report. Most airline companies take responsibility and deliver the lost luggage to the hotel when localized. Save all documentation and receipts in case you have any additional expenses as it might be covered if you have contracted travel insurance.
Remember that you cannot bring any fluids in your hand luggage but you should always try to bring valuable items or important medication in the hand luggage.
Some long stay travellers prefer to travel down with their own car to the destination, this saves you the cost for the rental car but normally increase the cost for travelling down to the destination.
During Long Stay breaks it is many times essential to have a rental car to be able to move from accommodation to golf course and to be able to visit the local area and supermarkets freely. Some destinations might have the golf course and supermarket next to the accommodation, then a transfer from the airport can be sufficient.
Nowadays each airport has many different Rental Car companies operating and giving service from the airport. Read the conditions carefully and take note of the conditions for fuel whether your should return the car full or empty, check the opening hours in case you have a early or late flight. In general it is “safer” to use a larger company then smaller firms although they tend to be a bit more expensive.
A GPS can be very useful during your stay as in some parts of southern Europe the signage can be quite poor and this will save you time especially if you intend to visit the local areas and cities.
Long Golf Breaks do not include any travel or cancellation insurance. If you have a home insurance you should check what is included and consider if you require additional travel insurance.
The health care when travelling within the European Union can be covered by a European Health Insurance Card. If you consider that you want additional cover then you should check what is covered in your health insurance if you have one or consider contract one for your break.
In good time prior to your travel you should check the documentation that you need for your trip so they are up to date. Especially: Visa (if required), Passport, Drivers licence, Credit Cards, Vouchers from Long Golf Breaks (1 copy for accommodation & 1 copy for golf course), European Health Insurance Card (if applicable) and any other document that you might require during your break.
The golf etiquette can be very different depending on country and golf club. Take time to study the golf etiquette at the club that you will be visiting to make sure that you bring adequate clothing for your holiday.
If your require any additional services such as Golf Buggies, Golf Trolleys etc, we advise you to contact the golf club direct prior to arrival and reserve the service you require to guarantee availability.
Long Golf Breaks normally arrange tournaments during your stay so please remember to print a handicap certificate that you need to present to be able to participate in the tournaments.
